It’s a couple weeks overdue but I did attend a local costume party for Halloween and so I had to choose my character. Keeping in theme with my current crusade I decided to be V, from the movie V for Vendetta. My identity finally revealed…sort of…
The entire film is excellent but there are a few key scenes which you may find interesting to view.
This first scene should seem strangely surreal and familiar. Perhaps even something you watched last night on your TV. As the government becomes concerned with the backlash developing against them, they decide to remind the American people why we need them…why we need government. The scene opens with the President Chancellor speaking, asking for those reasons to be broadcast throughout the internet and main stream media InterLink. What follows is what we see everyday.
This next one is the end of the movie, so if you plan on seeing this movie I would recommend against watching it or reading this post beyond this point. Okay, this point right here. Okay, so if you are still reading this then I will tell you that the beauty of the end of this movie is how V represented all the citizens of his country who felt oppressed and overwhelmed by their government and how the citizens responded to his call to them (seen on my 9/11 post) to appear by the capital on a particular night. The use of the mask, the symbol for everyone, was perfect.
It was a large outdoor Halloween party and the response from people at the party was overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Some people didn’t get it (probably people being foreclosed on) but most tried to recite V’s speech, I had a request to take a photo with me, and several people called out “V!” or “Revolution!” which I thought was interesting.
Just one more of my efforts to let others know they are not the only ones who think something is wrong with our government.
