Hear that? The sound you hear is the sound of silence, specifically the silence that has descended on the media now that the CDC’s report on gun violence is complete.
Unfortunately for Obama, who originally requested this CDC investigation along with a raft of other legislation to strip Americans right to bear arms, the damning report he was looking for that he could wave angrily in front of everyone on TV, demanding that both parties of Congress stop their petty squabbling and work together…because God damn it! The children are dying!…just wasn’t meant to be. Jokes on you Obama, and I’m laughing all the way to the gun show.
Let’s ignore for a moment the fact that Obama asked the Centers for Disease Control to perform the analysis to begin with, suggesting that gun crime is a disease. As we have seen with Obama for years, he pretty much does whatever the hell he wants, so this is just more of the same. The articles I have found that discuss this report while attempting to maintain the Obama Regime’s hard-line stance to strip Americans of their ability to protect themselves have been very short, and cherry picked their claims while ignoring the overwhelming evidence that supports gun ownership.
That’s right…Obama’s CDC Report actually supports gun ownership, just like Gandhi does. Now before you go out half-cocked shootin’ yourself in the head in ignorant disgust, you should know that most gun violence is from suicides, not homicides, and you’d only be supporting gun ownership by offing yourself. But I’m not saying not to do it.
Apparently mass shootings aren’t part of the problem either, and in fact are quite rare, even though the anti-gun media will focus on them until your ears bleed. Crime rates have declined in general, while in the past five-years firearm related victimization has remained the same despite skyrocketing gun ownership, and unintentional firearm deaths have fallen to less than one percent of all the ways you could accidentally kill yourself. The causality link that Liberals, Socialists, Democrats and their ilk have made for years that increased gun ownership would lead to higher crime, more gun violence and more accidental gun deaths…have all been disproved by Obama’s own CDC report.
Since all of the major news agencies have attached, not surprisingly, a silencer to all of this anti-Obama, pro-gun ownership evidence, we will have to content ourselves with reporting from Canada, or perhaps CainTV.com which quotes several startling (to Democrats) pro-gun findings in the CDC report…
“Almost all national survey estimates indicate that defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year … in the context of about 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008″
So there you have it, there were 300,000 violent crimes involving firearms in 2008, but guns were used to save lives between 500,000 and 3 million times. And of those 300,000 violent crimes, how many were gang members shooting gang members and drug dealers shooting drug dealers, which theoretically, we don’t care about. Plenty, I’m sure. But most, if not all, of the defensive uses of guns have been women protecting themselves from rape, assault and murder, mothers protecting their babies from kidnapping, rape or death, fathers protecting their families from buglers, rapists and murderers, boyfriends protecting their girlfriends from muggers or rapists, elderly men and women protecting themselves from burglary, rape, assault or murder and complete strangers protecting complete strangers from whatever horror was upon them.
And in most cases, which is why the number could be as high as 3 million, it only took the showing of a gun to stop the crime (since these are often not reported since technically, “nothing” happened). Burglars, rapists, murderers…funny how their mojo just drains right outta them, and they walk away, when they see their would-be victim pulling a semi-auto .45 out of their holster.
“In fact, the study found that those who own guns, carry them, and fight back against criminals actually fare better in dangerous situations.
The report notes that virtually all studies which ‘assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns’ found the same thing. There are ‘consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies.'”
So for all you anti-gun hardliners out there, how are you going to defend your position now when you know that at least half a million men and women and children and elderly were not raped, or murdered, or kidnapped, or burglarized or assaulted because the would-be victim owned a gun when you want to create a world where only the criminals have all the guns? It’s time to rethink your position and support gun ownership.
