Democrat Majority Leader Caught In Outright Lie

Democrats must be assuming you and I are too stupid to figure this one out. This is unbelievable. What’s next, the sky isn’t blue?

Back in 2001, George Bush proposed and enacted a series of widespread tax cuts that expire at the end of this year. There is much discussion about whether or not Obama will allow the tax cuts to expire, which would create a massive tax increase on the middle class.

The video below shows Democratic Majority Leader Stany Hoyer in a straight-up lie about why the tax cuts are expiring next year.

Hoyer says in the video, ““We have no intention of allowing the Republican tax increase — that their policies would lead to — to go into effect for working Americans. Period… We’re going to act and make sure that the Republican phase out and increase in taxes does not end as they provided for in the laws they passed.””

Hoyer calls the tax cut expiration, a “Republican tax increase,” and that they somehow designed their tax cut policy to purposely expire at the end of this year and that the Republicans are the ones to blame when the middle class is suddenly slapped with a massive tax increase due to the cuts expiring.

WHAT A TOTAL AND COMPLETE LIE!

According to The Tax Foundation, the Republicans wanted to make the tax cuts permanent back in 2001 when they created them, but because the Democrats controlled the House and did not want the tax cuts AT ALL, Bush was forced to use the reconciliation process. This process requires fewer votes to have a law passed, but in exchange for fewer votes it requires that any law that alters federal revenue MUST expire within ten years. This expiration clause of the reconciliation law is known as the Byrd Law, after a Democrat Senator who created the law.

So the Republicans in 2001 were blocked by the Democrats in making the tax cuts permanent, and they were forced by a law that Democrats created to make them expire in ten years. So everything coming out of Stany Hoyer’s mouth is the exact opposite of the truth.

THE TRUTH IS that the Democrats never wanted the tax cuts to begin with and tried to block Bush from creating them and then forced him to make them expire.

The DEMOCRATS are the real reason why the tax cuts are expiring…but now they are trying to spin the expiration like somehow the Republicans wanted it to expire all along.

This makes my blood pressure go up. Here is this politician, rewriting history, and assuming the American people are too stupid to take a minute to research exactly WHY the tax cuts are expiring. It took me about 20 minutes to research it and learn the truth.

The problem for the Democrats is that they have run up a massive deficit and passed a budget that will be the largest increase in the national debt ever. They need these tax cuts to expire so everyone can start paying more in taxes but everyone will be very mad if their taxes go up, especially since Obama said they wouldn’t. The best way to do that is blame the Republicans for the tax increase so they can take more of your money and trick you into thinking it wasn’t their fault.
